JULY 2019
Finding out that I had passed my first exam was fantastic news as I wouldn't need to resit it! During this training week at Escalla, we began the next topic which was about Digital Marketing Principles, I participated in a number of courses that would run alongside my qualification in this topic. One thing that particularly stood out for this week's training was the beginning stages of our group citizenship project where we decided to throw a fundraising event for the Macmillan charity. Myself and the group of Swansway apprentices decided to take part in a static bike ride the distances from Carlisle Audi to Birmingham VW Van Centre with distances between taken into account. We'd split all responsibilities between each member of the team - mine was to create a logo. This is what I had finally created.

Back at the dealership, there was some great news to find out that a handful of the team had been awarded their Volkswagen Accreditation. Because of this, I decided that I would create a social media post to celebrate this. The post worked well online and managed to achieve a high number of likes, comments and shares.

The following week was the week of handovers. I wanted to focus on the amount of handovers images that I was gaining for social media use. This was also a target set by Andy as before myself being placed into the dealership, there would be nobody to take these handover images as the Sales Executive would be pre-occupied with other elements of the handover such as important paperwork.  The use of regular handover pictures works well for businesses such as car dealers as others may see the post and want it to be them stood there next to their new purchase.

The following week I got told that I was going to be taking part in the Nantwich show. This is a county show where a range of local businesses come together to show off what that county has to offer. The preparation of this included the transportation of a hand full of our vehicles down to the venue and setting our plot up. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, the show was cancelled. They had to do this as health and safety standards were being compromised. I was incredibly gutted when I heard this news as I was looking forward to experiencing a form of offline marketing for Swansway.

The week after this saw our annual VIP event at the dealership, therefore I wanted to make a social media post to promote this as I was due to take annual leave at the start of this week. As this event was by invitation only, I needed to ensure the wording of this post was incredibly particular and needed to make sure that it still sounded like an exclusive event. I decided to experiment with imagery to run along side this post and finally came to a point where I was really happy with the outcome. I used the VIP lanyards, wore by the staff and customers on the day and draped them across one of our vehicles. This was my first VIP event, and honestly I’d never heard of anything like it before!
