December 2019

The biggest focus for December for is the campaign that I’m going to be running throughout the month.. Elf on the Shelf. I’m planning to write a report on how this went and how I used tools around me. The first week of this campaign seems to be going well. I’ve created a variety of different posts which include an introduction into the campaign, showing off Ernie the elf, various promotions of vehicles in stock and also promoting our charity pick ‘n’ mix stand.

This week, myself and the Sales Controller have attended a Modix training workshop in Birmingham. Modix is the company that controls the official VW website, in particular the used car stock listings. I found this workshop incredibly interesting as so far I’d only received Swansway based training. Here, we spoke about how to increase our advert quality to the best that it can be. It was nice to know that our results were high in many categories that the workshop included. We received praise for our average time that an advert has before images are loaded. This in particular gave a sense of pride to myself and made me feel good about my process due to my low turn around rate compared to some of the other Volkswagen dealers.

The Swansway Santa Patrol also happened this week and I was amazed of the generosity that as a company we managed to deliver. Each year, Swansway donates mountains of toys to children who are not as fortunate as others. Swansway asks each dealership to nominate a charity or group of children to donate their share of the gifts to. This year we chose the Cheshire Buddies who are a group that supports families with children who have disabilities. I coordinated a date and time where the children from this charity, along with the charity practitioners came to collect their gifts. Martin, a sales executive even dressed up as Santa to hand over the gifts to the children. This was a truly incredible and rewarding experience, seeing their faces light up when ‘Santa’ appeared. To celebrate Swansway’s generosity, I decided to make a social media post out of this. With the permissions of the charity, I used this image to thank Swansway for their donation. Obviously, this was in line with the Elf on the Shelf campaign, and so Ernie was also in on the action! This post worked really well and gained a good reception online. The charity even shared the post, so it reached an even larger audience.

I received an email this week about a couple of members of our team had been working for Swansway for a rewardable number of years. I was asked to capture this on social media with their managers handing over their long service pins. Again, I wanted to use such a tremendous occasion on our social media, along with a snap of Ernie the Elf with our customer arrivals host.

As well as really enjoying the Elf on the Shelf campaign, I felt some posts in particular worked incredibly well. I hope to do this campaign again to see what other ideas that I am able to come up with!
