October 2019

It was the start of a new month and I wanted to post a different style of post after seeing this format being used on the Swansway group page. I wanted to this as it's a perfect opportunity to see how many of our online customers would interact with our content relative to the amount of people the post reaches. I decided to conduct this through the use of a Facebook poll. As this function can not be scheduled on E-Clincher, I had to use the Facebook application to post this.

I decided to use two vehicles from our SUV family and put them to the test against each other. I decided to choose these two vehicles as they are generally similar vehicles in the respect of their sizes - compact SUV.

I was actually really shocked about the outcome of the poll as incredibly 51 people took part in the poll. Compared to the amount of people the poll reached which was 454, this does not seem like a large amount, however I was still amazed with the amount of people who did join in.

The following week, I had a meeting with David where we spoke about current expectations of the directors. We also spoke about the framework of regulations about imagery as there had been some elements seen by other brand’s that are not Swansway compliant and not something that head office or customers would want to see ie. Keys in the drink holders, key peg signs, engine/ fuel warning lights on the dashboard.

I also spoke to David about my current concerns with the video report as lately, I had felt as though I was doing everything in my power to get up to date with the videos to ensure that I wasn’t deemed in the ‘red zone’. Myself and David came to the conclusion that I had been doing everything as I should be, but it was my sales manager in-fact that was purchasing new vehicles during the weekend which were being added to the stock list and video list which meant my results were not as I was expecting.

I was away from the dealership again the following week, at Escalla for training. As I’d passed my Principles of coding exam, I was invited to the academy for an optional unit of training that was a follow on from the previous coding topic. I decided that I had nothing to lose and that I’d give it a go as we didn’t need to sit the exam at the end of the week. I took the week as it came and although at times I felt as though I couldn’t do it, I stuck to my guns, and carried on. Throughout my educational history, this was by far the most complex subject I’d ever tried to learn, therefore ensuring that I put the work in during the evenings of this week was a must if I was ever going to become successful.

Unfortunately, on this occasion I wasn’t able to pass the exam, feeling a little deflated as I was around 7% off the pass mark. I have agreed to resit in a couple of weeks. Hopefully by which time, the theory will be able to sink in a little more and with a few more hours of swatting up, I will hopefully pass next time.

The following week, I decided to get a little creative with some of my images and took one of our used car stock vehicles to the other side of the city to capture some unique images. I wanted to go with the old vs new theme hence why I decided to take the T-Roc to a derelict building in the potteries. I’m really content with how these images came out and would go as far to say that I’m proud of what I have produced.

I decided that I would publish my work onto social media; Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Naturally, the post on Twitter didn’t generate much of a response, but this is normal for this platform. I used the imagery on two different occasions; one to show off the images and the used car and one to promote out Instagram channel. The post that raised awareness of the used T-Roc generated 7 likes and 1share, which is around the usual rate that I achieve with posts. The Instagram post achieved a good response throughout the three consecutive posts as pictured below, somebody also commented the fire emoji, which is really positive!

With Halloween close approaching, I decided that I’d try and create a post that would not only reflect the Halloween theme, but also to promote one of our used cars. I decided to take and Orange Polo to Crewe Hall as I knew this would be the perfect back drop for this. Once I’d got back to the dealership from taking these images, I wanted to edit them in a Halloween style, for this I used ‘pixlr’.

The overall reception of this again, did well I decided to put this on Facebook and Instagram.
